Fortune for all of us the kids are "holding up the Alaskan Pipeline"! Grandpa Tansy worked on the pipeline for 12 years and helped send over 6 billion barrels of oil to the lower 48 states during that time! Johnny is having a super time listening to all of his knowledge. He has an abundance of stories...what an interesting life...during his lifetime he and Grandma have seen Alaska become a state in 1959, he has had encounters with caribou, moose, black bears, and grizzlies. He has climbed most of the mountains around here and built so many roads and bridges around here. Grandpa is an Athabascan Indian and Grandma is a Tlingit (pronounced "Clinkit"). We have so enjoyed hearing their stories of living in Alaska. They have been gracious hosts. Here is a great website to help you practice the Tlingit language:
